PKR Poker Review

PKR offers a new generation of online poker with its state of the art 3D poker software, designed to enhance both the enjoyment of playing poker online and create more player interaction.

With the release of PKR came a massive buzz within the online poker communities and rightly so, the site has created an online poker room that can't be matched in its game play and software, making both Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker loolk basic to say the least.

PKR have broken the mould of what seems to be standard within the online poker industry with many sites using 2D software, offering standard avatars for players to choose, some sites don't even let players choose their own, its all down to where the play is seated at their tables.

The state of the art 3D software first asks players to create their player, with the player choosing facial structure, style of hair, clothing and attributes of their new representative.

With PKR setting the standard within the online poker world there are bound to be great features that the site offers to its players, here are a number of those features:

The software at PKR is one of its major features and the reasoning that people are calling them the new generation of online poker. The buzz surrounding the software is massively due to the 3D engine that powers the site.

With so many online poker rooms only offering limited gaming experience through there 2d gaming engines, PKR has attracted players from around the world who are looking for that little bit extra while playing their poker.

On signing up to the site players are asked to create their avatar using a software that you would associate with the massive hit PC game 'The Sims', choosing everything from how they want their hair, the style of their clothes, right down to if your avatar has any poker chip tricks to share at the table!

Once you have choosen how your play is going to look, you then get to go into as much detail as the accent that your player will carry!

Ok at first you only get limited amounts of items that your player can choose to wear but don't worry, playing the site will enable you to unlock new items and clothing.

As well as hosting online poker on the software the PKR team are also offering you the opportunity to play 'Deal or No Deal' with a virtual version of Noel Edmonds taking you through your game to beat the banker. The game allows players to win the amount within the chosen box at the end or to deal with the banker at any offer he makes, with prizes been higher, the more that you stake into the game.

PKR is still a very young site when compared to the likes of Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker, but this don't mean that the traffic isn't streaming to PKR, not by a long shot.

Since PKR opened to the gaming public over half a million members have flooded to the PKR virtual felts to experience the added user interaction that comes with the attraction of the site.

Having created a superior online poker software, PKR have also ensured that their marketing has been world wide and frequently shown across the world in all forms of media. This is the reason that the site has taken in such a huge player base win its first year of operation.

Offering a huge mix of both new poker players who are only starting out online to seasoned players who have been playing online poker for a number of years.

The frequency of the traffic seems to be slow at the moment, with some tables taking a while to fill but i'm sure that this will improve in the near future.

This could be one of the only downsides to the PKR software that has hit the poker community, the fact that they only offer 3 styles of poker means that they are restricting players from playing their chosen game.

With Texas Hold'em, Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo been the only poker styles offered on the site, many poker players might just turn their back on the site, but with what could be arguably the most popular styles on offer to me, i won't be turning my back on the site just yet! Other games such as 7 Card stud, 5 card stud and Caribbean stud games are rumoured to be in development.

The tournament schedule at first left me feeling that i had made the wrong move by joining up to the site, with very limited tournaments open to me at the launch of the site, but with the other features out weighing the negatives i decided that i was going to stick it out for a while and see what the site would offer a short time later.

It wasn't long before the 'PKR Generation' was starting to get talked about, with players beginning to flood to the site to try out what the online poker community are holding in such high regard.

With the site taking more traffic i noticed that more and more tournaments were becoming available to the players, some that even made me re-deposit to ensure that i had the buy in fee to try my hand in them.

Ok i have played at the big hitters in the industry such as Pokerstars and Full Tilt Poker and the tournaments there are frequent and often offer large prize pools due to the sheer size of the participating players in them, but PKR still offer attractive tournaments with the most noticiable been the $12,500 guarenteed nightly event, offering a fraction of the participation numbers that you would experience on the bigger sites.

Yeah i'm still to place well within the tournament, but with the limited number of players joining the number in the tournament its only going to be a matter of time that my pocket aces actually beat those pocket 3's!

While playing on the site i noticed that Sit 'n' Go tournaments offer a huge popularity on the site, with many of them filling quickly, as with most of the larger sites, the standard of these tournaments ranges with the buy in cost, with many of the players that buy into the smaller tournaments been new or poor players, raising the chance of seeing your 'check - re-raise' called by a hand that doesn't even feature on the board.

Freerolls are also on offer on the site which i was pleased to see, with 10 freerolls been available daily for me to try my luck in, but with many freerolls on any site, the standard of play is mixed to say the least, with all in calls been made on pots of 30 chips under the gun... but that just adds to the fun i suppose! When joining a site like this i pay close attention to the stakes that are offered, on looking into the site i realised they they offered a huge choice in stakes to its members, with me preferring to play the $0.25/$0.50 tables.
